A hammam is not a spa treatment here, it is ordinary hygiene infrastructure that happens to feel wonderful. The sequence is steam, black olive-oil soap left to sit, a scrub with a kessa glove by someone who is not being gentle, rinsing, then argan oil. You will be surprised how much skin comes off.

You have two options. Public hammams cost a few euros, are gender-separated, and are a genuine local experience if you are comfortable being nearly naked among strangers and bringing your own kit. Riad hammams cost more, are private or semi-private, and include everything — which is what most visitors actually want.

Do it on your last evening. Do not do it the day before a surf lesson: freshly scrubbed skin plus a wetsuit is unpleasant.
